This is the most important question a business will need to ask itself over the next 12 months. Mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets will be the growth area in the mobile computing platform through the course of 2010.
If your web site has not been built for the mobile platform then your business is in trouble. Young people today will be using the mobile device platform for their purchasing requirements, entertainment and communication. Just like SMS was the communication tool of the day, the mobile platform will shift into top gear in 2010. Android will begin to dominate the market followed by Maemo and Symbian. All these are mobile operating systems for smart phones and the tablet.
So, after reading this you need to review your website and make sure it is mobile ready.
3G market growth
There were approximately 8.55 million 3G mobile services in Australia at 30 June 2008, an increase of 88 per cent from 4.56 million in 2007. This increase is partially explained by the closure of Telstra’s CDMA network and the migration of CDMA subscribers to its 3G network. About 27 per cent of Australians aged 16 or over who have an internet-enabled device have accessed the internet. Buying ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers is the most popular activity (42%), followed by emailing (40%), finding news and weather information (37%), and local search (36%).

Google is the leading search engine. And it continues its dominance in the mobile searches space too. This, come to think of it, is no big surprise because it's the default search engine on iPhone which tops the list of mobile devices used for web browsing. However, compared to its web sibling, Google's share for mobile browsing is more than 97%!
